The Midtown Urban Renaissance Corporation, MURC, is sponsoring their third annual

“Midtown Beautification Day”
Saturday May 10, 2008
10:00 am – 3:00 pm.
In front of the MURC Information Center
1716 West Lake Avenue, Neptune

The goal is to raise pride in our neighborhood and to bring awareness to municipal programs that are available.  The township will join MURC in informing residents about the role of code enforcement; trash and bulk pick up, recycling, the township’s paint program, and the Neighborhood Preservation Program (NPP). Dumpsters will be made available at selected sites for bulk items.

We will be dancing in the street collecting donations for MURC, giving away gardening supplies and “Litter Free Zone” signs while quantities last. There will be volunteer groups from both Neptune and Asbury Park that will clean vacant lots along the connecting street of  West Lake/Springwood Avenue, to show UNITY and PRIDE in this area.

We’re asking the public to come out to see what MURC is doing, get an update on the West Lake Avenue Redevelopment Project, enjoy planting demonstrations, get landscaping ideas, pick up information about township programs and grab a snack.  You just might run into a familiar face or win one of the donated prizes.

It’s a great opportunity to pass out information on lawn care businesses, handyman services, energy saving tips, rental and utility assistance programs. We encourage all local businesses, agencies and utility companies to participate by calling the MURC Office at (732)775-1110. Leave us your name and phone number and a volunteer will get back to you.
