Help for Haiti

January 19th, 2010

A Message from the Mayor:

All of us in Neptune Township are shocked and saddened by the recent earthquake which has left so many in Haiti injured or deceased and has reduced much of the beautiful city of Port-au-Prince to rubble.  Our thoughts and prayers are with their families and friends, both worldwide and here in the Neptune vicinity.

For those residents who wish to donate financially, here are some options for you, both on the Internet and to where you can mail checks/money orders:

* American Red Cross -- www.redcross.org or Text the word "Haiti" to 90999 to donate $10. to the Red Cross
* Florida International Volunteer Corps -- www.favaca.org
* Pan American Development Foundation -- www.panamericanrelief.org
* Samaritan's Purse -- www.samaritanspurse.org
* UN ReliefWeb -- www.reliefweb.int
* International Firefighters Assistance -- ifarelief.org
* Dayspring Emergency Relief Fund, 200 Lamerson Road, Chester, NJ, 07930

As we find out more about organizations that will be taking donations of food, water and clothing to Haiti, we will post updated information about how and where to donate.

We as a Township community offer our emotional and moral support to the families of the victims during this terrible time for the Haitian people, both here and abroad.

Regards,

Mary Beth

Note from Bill Bailey:

Bill is a Captain in the Neptune Township Police Department and member of St. Paul's UMC in Ocean Grove. He has been to Haiti twice on missions trips.

These are the two (Haiti) relief groups that I am connected with and I know that donations go for the real thing.  I realize that many are asking for Haiti donations however I ask that you give to these worthwhile organizations: Dayspring Emergency Relief Fund 200 Lamerson Road, Chester, NJ 07930.  I am directly connected with this organization.   The other organization that is due to land in Haiti within the hour and I have worked with is www.ifarelief.org  I met the founder and president of this firefighters group in Haiti and spoke with him this morning.  Visit the website for more info on the organization and how to donate.

At this time the groups need cash to do their mission and provide the necessary supplies on the ground in Haiti,  please consider helping

Thank you,

Bill Bailey
