Children Celebrate Dr. Seuss and Books

March 8th, 2010

Neptune children celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday and Read Across America Day with members of the Neptune Township Committee and staff of the Neptune Township Public Library. Pictured above are Committeemen Kevin McMillan and Randy Bishop with Library Director Marian Bauman and Mayor Mary Beth Jahn.

Mayor Jahn also announced the kick-off of the "Mayor's Book Club". The Mayor's Book Club, formed under the direction of the NJ League of Municipalities Educational Foundation in partnership with the National League of Cities, focuses on providing young children with age-appropriate books and resources in order to promote early literacy and encourage families to create a home environment that fosters reading and learning.

Children received a free book that had been donated from the HealthCare Institute of New Jersey earlier this year.
Parents and children assemble to listen to readings. Mayor Mary Beth Jahn reads a Dr. Seuss book to attentive children.
