Neptune’s 8th Annual Touch a Truck Fun for All If you were anywhere near Heck Avenue and Neptune Boulevard on Thursday evening, you couldn’t help but stop by to check out all the commotion!
Police cars, ambulances, fire trucks, pumper trucks, street sweepers, rescue trucks, a recycling truck, and a school bus. Sounds like an interesting traffic jam; only this packed parking lot was planned! Neptune’s eighth annual Touch A Truck, held on Thursday, July 15, at the Neptune Board of Education Office parking lot featured real sirens, real steering wheels, 15 vehicles, and larger than life excitement.
Children and adults could sound the siren on a fire truck, try on emergency gear, board a school bus, sit in the driver’s seat of an ambulance, and even climb a rock wall. The pumper truck sprayed water while the young and young at heart cooled off in the mist. The jaws-of-life demonstration showed first hand how our emergency volunteers set to work on a crashed vehicle, donated by Taylor’s Towing. Anyone who heard the excitement came to see what all the noise and lights were about.
Blasting sirens, spraying water, and smiling faces were just a few of the things you saw or heard as children could climb into a truck, ask questions, sound a horn, and let their imaginations run wild.
