One hundred and forty people attended the first fundraiser event of 2014 for the Veterans Memorial Park. An updated VMP rendering of the park was revealed and Township Committeemen Randy Bishop and Eric Houghtaling announced that a bond ordinance had recently been approved appropriating $800,000 authorizing funds for development of the park. Those funds included: site restoration work, construction of a parking area, entry plaza, walkways & main plaza, various landscaping and aesthetic improvements. Additionally, installation of trees, seed, mulch and plantings, installation of planters, brick pavers, memorial walls, a memorial plaque, signage, benches, trash receptacles, bicycle racks, flagpoles, uplights, water service, electric service and a composting restroom.
The event was hosted by Jumping Brook Country Club who provided the venue, wine and cheese so that all proceeds went into the Veterans Memorial Trust Fund. Approximately $8,000 was raised that evening.
