Regional Deaf Education Program Helps Auditorily Impaired Students Suceed in a Hearing World

January 11th, 2010

Dear Reader:

Welcome to another edition of CityScapes, a publication of the Urban Schools Superintendents of New Jersey (USSNJ).

Each issue of CityScapes highlights a particularly interesting or innovative program or activity that has been implemented in one of our urban school districts.

Today's CityScapes focuses on the Neptune Township School District's award-winning Regional Deaf Education Program. Students from five counties travel to Neptune every day to take advantage of this program, which provides state-of-the-art classes, services, communication approaches, and inclusion opportunities for youngsters who are hard-of-hearing or deaf. It is really an eye-opening experience to read about all that Neptune offers to these youngsters at all grade levels and how successful the program has been.

We hope that you enjoy this issue of CityScapes and we thank you again for your interest in our schools and our students!

Sincerely,

Dr. H. Victor Gilson

President, Urban Schools Superintendents of New Jersey (USSNJ)

Superintendent, Bridgeton Public Schools
