Mayor Randy Bishop and the Neptune Twp Committee proclaimed June 26th as “Christie Rampone Day”. Christie is Captain of the USA Women’s Soccer Team. The only mother on the team (she has two young daughters), she and her team leave for London soon. Their first game this Olympic season is July 25th. Shout of “USA” “USA” were heard throughout the presentation. A six year old student from Wayside School belted out the National Anthem. Christie, who is a graduate of Point Pleasant Boro High School and Monmouth University, was presented gifts from her alma maters.

Community Health Day held at the Jane Booker Family Health Center on West Lake Avenue was held outdoors while free health screenings were held indoors. In addition to health services provided by the Health Center, outside agencies also attended and provided handouts of their services. The kids enjoyed rows of fun activities.

It was a full house on Monday afternoon when Lisa from the Philly Zoo on Wheels program brought a few nocturnal animals to visit. The young children asked questions, giggled, and wormed their way closer and closer to the friendly creatures. Sometime during the presentation, children were asked to perform tasks such as rolling their eyes up, down and around like an owl and s t r e t c h like a ferret. Annual Car Show in Ocean Grove on Main Avenue. This year’s show was among the biggest to date. As Mayor Randy Bishop walked thru the crowds, he recognized some Township employees who were with their vintage cars.

Grimace joined owner/operator Marti Gillis and members of the Township Committee and Board of Education for a grand re-opening of McDonalds on April 10th.

Neptune Township’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt Winners Three softball fields, hundreds of children, 5,000 colored eggs, and lots of prizes—all the makings of a successful Easter Egg Hunt. Neptune Recreation’s Easter Egg Hunt went off on Saturday morning, April 7, with sunny and cool weather. Mr. and Mrs. Peter Cottontail were also on hand to share in the fun!! Children from ages pre-kindergarten through 5th grade made short work of gathering all 5,000 brightly colored eggs, each containing a small toy or wrapped candy. Thirty-six silver eggs held special prizes for the lucky finders.
