The Mayor’s Youth Cabinet hosted their first Senior Holiday Ball on Thursday, December 9, 2010. Assisted by the NHS JROTC, they danced the night away! You can tell by the smiling faces that everyone had a rockin’ good time. Pictures courtesy Dan Margo.

Mrs. Monroe has brought her classes annually to town hall to see government at work; this year was no exception. The students (and their class parents) met with all the departments, took notes, and asked questions. Pam Howard, Deputy Municipal Clerk, was their guide. Neptune Township celebrated the holiday season with a Christmas Tree and Menorah Lighting on Friday, December 3 complete with outdoor decorations, pictures with Santa, cookies and DJ music and dancing. Thanks to the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Cabinet volunteers and the NHS Marching Band for their holiday music as we awaited the special arrival of Santa by fire truck. Neptune Township received two merit awards at the 57th Annual Monmouth County Planning Board Awards Dinner. Midtown Commons was recognized for it’s first phase of redevelopment on West Lake Avenue. Midtown Commons is a 51,000 square foot, $18.5 million office and health center. The first tenant is the Family Health Center from Jersey Shore University Medical Center. The NJ Division of Taxation will be moving into 15,000 feet of space and bringing 75 permanent jobs.

Neptune Recreation ended its morning program with a chance to cool off - under fire truck spray. Participants got a chance to climb on, in, and around and ask questions about the big rig.

Missions 101 is a four-day community service “Experience”, where youth and adults alike will grow spiritually by reaching out in the service of Christ to area home owners, churches and community service agencies. The participants, ages 12-18 (junior and senior high) participated in Neptune’s Paint and Rehab program and worked on a total of 18 projects in Ocean Grove and Neptune.
